ASE acquires WIN Semiconductors plant for NT$1.56 billion

ASE Technology will purchase WIN Semiconductors(稳懋半导体)’ factory and ancillary facilities in Luzhu District, Kaohsiung, for NT$6.5 billion (approximately RMB 1.56 billion). ASE Technology Investment Holding stated that this move aims to expand advanced packaging production capacity to meet growing market demand in areas such as AI and high-speed computing.

WIN Semiconductors(稳懋半导体) expects to realize approximately NT$1.939 billion in profit from the transaction, or approximately NT$4.57 in pre-tax earnings per share, with related gains expected to be recognized as early as the end of 2024. The company stated that the transaction will primarily be used for asset revitalization and capital replenishment, and the original lease contract will be terminated early at the end of August.

ASE Technology has continued to expand its advanced packaging footprint in recent years, including the construction of the new K28 plant, the acquisition of the K18 plant, and investment in large-scale fan-out panel packaging production lines to meet the rapid growth in demand for 2.5D and 3D packaging.
